The Linnean Society of London presents an upcoming lecture titled ‘New and Emerging Threats to Plant and Tree Health in the UK’ with speaker Professor Nicola Spence, Defra’s Chief Plant Health Officer and expert in plant health and international plant trade.
The lecture’s subtitle asks the question: “How can we best build our defence against potential threats like Xylella and Emerald Ash Borer? The answer lies in all of our actions.”
Our plants and trees are precious natural resources, they shape the landscape, provide timber and support our health and well-being, providing much enjoyment.
Yet due to globalisation, travel and trade creates an ever-present threat from pests and diseases; by working collectively we can minimise the risks and strengthen our approach for example from potential threats like Xylella and Emerald Ash Borer.
