An Evening with Raymond Blanc at Oxford Botanic Garden

July 19th 2022

This event forms part of The University of Oxford Botanic Garden's 400th anniversary celebrations, and features Raymond Blanc OBE - one of Britain's most respected chefs and creator of the acclaimed Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, (a Belmond Hotel).

As of February 2022, the restaurant was honoured to have retained 2 Michelin Stars for their 38th year, along with the Green Michelin Star for their 2nd year running.

The evening will feature a talk by Raymond, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. This will then be followed by a reception and canapés provided by Waste2Taste.

Raymond Blanc said:

I’m delighted to be invited to take part in the Oxford Botanic Garden’s 400th anniversary celebrations surrounded by such an incredible garden. Maman Blanc used the freshest ingredients from our potager, all organic, no chemicals and taught me ‘you shall waste not’. She created the foundation of my food philosophy. She taught me about the soil, the love of gardens, the seasons, the environment, the joy of the table, the power of sharing, empowerment of knowledge and mostly that food is an act of love.

Professor Simon Hiscock, Director Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum said:

I am delighted to share the Botanic Garden with the culinary legend, Raymond Blanc. The combination of Raymond's knowledge exploring food and horticulture against a backdrop of the oldest botanic garden in Britain will make for a truly remarkable experience. It promises to be a real celebration of food plants and a reminder of how much we all depend on plants for our survival.
